UFC Fight Night Orlando: What we Learned
Here’s what we learned after tonight’s fights.
Apparently Conor McGregor is Mister popular. He got called out like three times tonight, by guys in a higher weight class. They want that Conor McGregor money.
- Rafael dos Anjos defeats Donald Cerrone via TKO in the 1st ( TITLE FIGHT )
Dos Anjos is a bad bad man. His striking plan is simple: hit you and hit you hard. He put Cerrone out in the first round after a brutal body kick that left Cerrone reeling and digging deep to hang on. Cerrone still has a problem with his movement, he’s rigid and tends to keep himself planted. This leaves him open to fighters that jump start fights, like dos Anjos did tonight. The lightweight division is stacked and with this quick victory dos Anjos will be defending his title sooner rather than later, hopefully against the dynamic Tony Ferguson.
- Alistair Overeem defeats Junior dos Santos via KO in the 2nd
Junior dos Santos is starting to scare fight fans. He seems to have aged ten years in the last two. He’s taken some nasty beatings in his last three conflicts and many fans are concerned for his health. Overeem looked as dangerous as ever. Since moving to the Jackson MMA camp he’s starting to reach the potential many hoped for. He stayed disciplined and made a case for a title shot.
- Nate Diaz defeats Michael Johnson via Unanimous Decision
Nate Diaz shouldn’t be on Fox. His antics and expletive filled post fight interviews don’t help the sport look as intelligent as the UFC wants. Besides that Diaz displayed the boxing skills that make him and his brother so dangerous. He landed the 1-2 over and over. Michael Johnson played right into Diaz’s game plan. If a Diaz brother gets into his opponents head, he’s going to have a heyday landing the “Stockton Slap”.
- Karolina Kowalkiewicz defeats Randa Markos via Decision
Karolina is a slow starter that needs to pounce on an opponent as sluggish and outclassed as Markos looked. Randa has a pretty good ground game but once she secured a dominant position she did nothing with it. Randa needs to be more aggressive on the mat if she wants to make up for her suspect striking. Good win for Karolina, she countered everything on the mat but needs to be more aggressive on the feet where she stands at the advantage. Beautiful spinning backfist in this one.https://www.myfantasysportstalk.com/11806-2/https://i2.wp.com/www.myfantasysportstalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/502024368.jpg?fit=1024%2C685&ssl=1https://i2.wp.com/www.myfantasysportstalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/502024368.jpg?resize=150%2C150&ssl=1AnalysisCombat SportsMMARecent PostsAlistair Overeem,Cowboy Cerrone,Donald Cerrone,Junior dos Santos,Nate Diaz,Rafael dos Anjos,UFC,UFC Figh,UFC FIght Night Orlando,UFC Fox,UFC Orlando,UFConFox17Here’s what we learned after tonight’s fights.
