2016 MLB Postseason Predictions
2016 MLB Postseason Predictions
After a grueling 162-game baseball season, the 2016 MLB Postseason is finally here. In this column MFST will predict the winners of every series in every league all the way to the World Series. If you disagree, let us know why in the comments below…
Wild Card: Baltimore Orioles at Toronto Blue Jays
Winner: Toronto Blue Jays- The Blue Jays have hit a skid in September, but the atmosphere at the Rogers Centre will be enough to fuel the Jays to victory in
ALDS: Boston Red Sox at Cleveland Indians
Winner: Cleveland Indians in 5 games- If Corey Kluber and the rest of the Indians starting rotation is healthy, the Indians can make a deep playoff run. I’m not sold on any Red Sox pitcher, especially when they are relying on David Price, who is terrible in the postseason.
ALDS: Wild Card Winner (Toronto Blue Jays) at Texas Rangers
Winner: Texas Rangers in 4 games- The Rangers are the most complete team and should advance, but this could be the best series between two teams who knowingly hate each other.
Wild Card: San Francisco Giants at New York Mets
Winner: San Francisco Giants- It’s an even year meaning the Giants know how to win the World Series (won in 2010, 2012 and 2014). They will edge out a tough Mets squad.
NLDS: Los Angeles Dodgers at Washington Nationals
Winner: Los Angeles Dodgers in 4 games– If the Nationals were truly healthy I might lean towards them taking the series, but they’re not and I believe Clayton Kershaw will actually have a solid playoffs for the first time ever.
NLDS: Wild Card Winner (SF Giants) at Chicago Cubs
Winner: Chicago Cubs in 4 games- This match-up scares me for all the Cubs fans out there, as the young in-experienced Cubs face the veteran-laden Giants. Talent prevails and the Cubs advance.
ALCS: Cleveland Indians at Texas Rangers
Winner: Texas Rangers in 5 games- The Rangers are too powerful offensively and boast an elite pitching staff. It will be tough for a team to slow them down.
NLCS: Los Angeles Dodgers at Chicago Cubs
Winner: Chicago Cubs in 6 games- The Cubs are the most talented team in baseball and if they can stay out of their own heads, they should be able to play their way directly into the World Series.
Chicago Cubs at Texas Rangers
Winner: Texas Rangers in 7 games– The Rangers and Cubs are the two most complete teams in baseball, but the edge for me is with the Rangers and their veteran presence. Cole Hamels and Carlos Beltran know what it takes to win it all, and let’s not forget this team has depth at every single position. Rangers win one of the best World Series in history. Sorry Cubs fans, the curse continues.
