2017 WWE Royal Rumble Preview and Predictions
The road to Wrestlemania 33 begins here at the Royal Rumble. The rumble this year has many competitors that could actually win and for the first time in a few years, this winner will be unpredictable and that is a good thing. Besides the royal rumble there are a few other important matches. John Cena is back and looking to take the title from AJ Styles, and Roman Reigns has his chance to take on Kevin Owens for the Universal championship without Chris Jericho interfering.

Match Preview and Predictions
Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax
Nia Jax needs to look strong again here. She hasn’t had a big match in a while and having her look strong here is needed. This will help build up what I think will happen at Wrestlemania this year, and having Sasha win will make her look like she is ready for another title match, while losing to Jax would mean she has some work cut out for her.
Nia Jax wins via pinfall
Cesaro and Sheamus vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson for the Raw Tag Team Championship
This one has a crazy stipulation. Two refs will be officiating the match since on Monday Night Raw two weeks ago had Sheamus strike the ref, and get pined cleanly by another ref that came in. The ref that was attacked by Sheamus called off the original ruling, saying he was hit and Sheamus and Cesaro were DQ’d, keeping the titles. This time, with two refs don’t expect anyone to attack another when the ref isn’t looking. Also it could turn into an interesting finish with maybe both refs getting two different counts on a pin or count out. Either way, Cesaro and Sheamus are too short into their reign to lose the titles.
Cesaro and Sheamus win via pinfall
Rich Swann (c) vs. Neville for the Cruiserweight Championship
Neville has come back from injury and made it his mission to become the cruiserweight champion. While Swann has gotten the better of him recently, Neville will be just too much for Swann. Neville can be the face of the division and lead them in a great direction.
Neville wins via pinfall
Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella and Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss, Natalya, and Mickie James
While losing this tag team match wouldn’t hurt Bliss if she isn’t pinned, but they need to build her up as a champ. While Mickie James is here to help that as well, winning this tag team match could help build some more rivalries up as it looks like Naomi will be the next one to get a shot.
Alexa Bliss, Natalya, and Mickie James win via pinfall
Charlotte (c) vs. Bayley for the Raw Women’s Championship
While it would be a great time to have someone other than Charlotte or Sasha Banks become the women’s champion, it won’t happen this Sunday. Bayley will become a champion, but on a bigger stage than Royal Rumble. Charlotte will continue her PPV dominance and keep it up until the big match at Wrestlemania 33.
Charlotte wins via submission
Kevin Owens (c) vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship
Chris Jericho will be hanging up in a shark cage above the ring, forcing Kevin Owens to be on his own. While you would think that would hold Chris Jericho in, I am sure there will be a way Jericho is able to get out and jump down on top of Reigns while the ref is knocked out. While having Kevin Owens win makes sense, so does Roman Reigns. With Owens without the title, it leaves the United States title technically in his and Chris Jericho’s hands, which would become a great rivalry to see two former friends turn into enemies over the US championship.
Roman Reigns wins via pinfall
AJ Styles (c) vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship
John Cena is back to take on AJ Styles for his championship, his 16th and record tying belt. This won’t happen here, and is just like the Charlotte situation except flipped. They will want John Cena to win his 16th belt at Wrestlemania to become a big moment for the company. No way Styles loses.
AJ Styles wins via pinfall
Royal Rumble Match
There are many possibilities for who could win this match. People see the Undertaker winning to have one more run before he retires, but he has done everything he has in his career, he doesn’t need this. Brock Lesnar and Goldberg are both popular picks as well, but you know another match between the two will happen at Wrestlemania, so eliminate them. The losers of the main championship matches will appear, whoever they may be and they won’t win a rematch that way. Kurt Angle has ruled out an appearance, so erase him.
Four other big names that people are thinking about are The Miz, Braun Strowman, Kenny Omega and Samoa Joe. First, if Kenny Omega does get signed by the WWE, they won’t throw him right in the title picture even after his great performance in NJPW. They didn’t give the win to AJ Styles, but later in 2016 he won the belt. If Omega does get signed he will get a championship title, just not this way. The Miz is feuding with Dean Ambrose over the IC title and while the Miz would be a good change in opponents for AJ Styles, it won’t happen.
Braun Strowman is one of the big favorites, but there are a lot of rumors about him at Wrestlemania. Some think he will take on Brock Lesnar, others say he will take on The Undertaker, or even Goldberg. Others have him winning the rumble and taking on Roman Reigns. While it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have him win it, it could be a little too early to see Strowman in the main event.
That leaves Samoa Joe left. Joe makes the perfect sense for this win. He is getting called up from NXT and since he doesn’t have anything else left to prove in it, the time is right for him to jump to the main roster and fight for the main title. If he wins, which brand does he represent? Well, Raw already has Reigns, Jericho, Owens, Strowman, Rollins, it is a pretty clogged place and with only Kevin Owens having experience with him, there isn’t any beef.
On Smackdown there is Styles, Cena, Ambrose and maybe Corbin. That is the only main event players on the roster, Joe would be able to contribute to that and build them up. Him and Styles wrestled at TNA, so seeing them do it again in the WWE would be huge. He could become a big star and what a better way to start than debut in the Royal Rumble and main event in Wrestlemania.
