Super Bowl LI Predictions

Super Bowl LI

Before the start of every NFL season, I make 50 crazy predictions that could maybe possibly happen in the NFL that season. Usually my predictions are so wild they never come to fruition, but sometimes I hit dead-on. Or maybe dead-on a year early—before the start of the 2015 season I had the Atlanta Falcons winning the NFC South, Matt Ryan being in the running for MVP and Dan Quinn taking home Coach of the Year honors.—just a tad too soon.

With Super Bowl LI less than two weeks away I wanted to bring out my early Super Bowl predictions. These may change as we get closer to the date as my number crunching and film watching take over—so stay tuned to MFST for any updated predictions….

1. If you are a betting man, bet the UNDER (currently O/U 59)

2. LeGarrette Blount will have more rushing yards than Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman combined

3. Mohammad Sanu will lead the Falcons in receiving

4. More field goals will be kicked in the first half than touchdowns scored

5. There will be a defensive or special teams touchdown

6. Matt Ryan will throw for more yards than Tom Brady

7. Tom Brady will throw for more touchdowns than Matt Ryan

8. Lady GaGa will repel down from the NRG Stadium roof to start the halftime show

9. Tony Bennett will join her on stage

10. The Patriots will play a “bracket-zone” on 90% of the Falcons throws, containing Julio Jones for much of the game

11. The Patriots shifty WR’s will have five flags thrown on defenders covering them for pass interference and holding

12. Both teams will record three sacks

13. Bill Belichick will smile at least once on camera during the game

14. Levine Toilolo will record a Super Bowl record five drops

15. The longest play of the game will not be more than 45 yards

16. No team will score on three straight possessions

17. Deflategate gets mentioned 7 times throughout the broadcast

18. The game will be within 10 points at the end of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters

19. The Patriots pull away in the 4th quarter

20. Thanks to a Malcolm Butler INT

21. The Patriots win and Tom Brady beats out LeGarrette Blount for MVP

22. Bob Kraft and Tom Brady give Roger Goodell dagger-stares as he presents them with the Lombardi Trophy

23. Bob Kraft makes not-so-subtle digs at the commish when he takes the mic

24. The crowd boos Goodell fiercely

25. The Final Score: Patriots 33 Falcons 23
