3 Notable Fantasy Stars from Lions vs. Vikings
Now that Thanksgiving Day football is done and over with, MFST will take a look at 3 fantasy stars from the Thursday’s afternoon matchup between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings.
Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions
Week 12 Stats: 23-of-40, 232 yards, 1 Touchdown; 4 Rushes, 30 yards
In the divisional matchup between the Minnesota Vikings, Matthew Stafford led his team to a 16-13 victory throwing for 232 yards. Stafford got the Lions on the board early, connecting with veteran Anquan Boldin for a 2-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Stafford connected with three different receivers hauling in 50+ yards, and added 30 yards on the ground himself, including a 15-yard rush.
Anquan Boldin, Detroit Lions
Week 12 Stats: 7 catches 69 yards 1 touchdown
With the Vikings defense struggling, the 14th year veteran Anquan Boldin hauled in a team-high 7 catches for 69 yards, and caught his 6th touchdown pass of the season in their 16-13 win. Thursday’s matchup marked as Boldin’s second consecutive game of 6 catches or more, after catching just 6 catches in weeks 7-9. This bodes well for Boldin as he faces off against a shaky New Orleans Saint’s defense in week 13.
Matt Asiata, Minnesota Vikings
Week 12 Stats: 5 carries, 27 yards a touchdown; 3 Receptions, 14 yards
In week 12’s matchup against the Lions, Matt Asiata wasn’t the main back for the Vikings, as he only had 5 carries, compared to Jerick McKinnon’s 9. And while McKinnon had 32 rushing yards, Asiata only had four fewer yards than him with 27 as both struggled to get much on the ground against the Lions. But it was Asiata who was able to reach the end zone on a 5-yard score in the first quarter to tie the game at 7. Asiata also added 14 yards through the air, on 3 catches in their 16-13 loss.
