30 Seconds to Mars Album Review featuring The Echelon
30 Seconds to Mars Album Review
Earlier this week Jared Leto lead singer and back-up musician Stevie Aiello embarked on a cross-country trip. A promotional tour to launch the 5th studio album simply titled “America”. Mr. Leto hitchhiked and played impromptu performances at various locations. From the New York subway, to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. Then racing a car with race car driver Tyler Riddick. Just to name a few.
The new album took five years to make. It contains 12 tracks. With special guest ASAP, Halsey, and Zedd. The length of the disc for the U.S. is 42:12.
So far four of the songs were released as singles. “Walk On Water“, “Dangerous Night“, “One Track Mind“, and “Rescue Me ”
Today, April 6 was the big release day for the record. After listening to the album only two were my least favorite. No fault of the band just my musical style. My favorites are “Rescue ME”,”Monolith”(also the north America tour name) “Great Wide Open”, and “Live Like A Dream”, lastly a “Dangerous Night”.
The album varies from heavy synthesizer, to rock, to pop. With a little bit of rap and even blues. Drummer Shannon Leto even got to do lead vocals on “Remedy“. All in all, I would rate the album 9 out of 10– only took off a point for two songs I disliked (again my taste not the bands fault).
Before I close the article I reached out to Mar’s fans (the band and fans prefer the term echelon over the term fans). I thought it would be fun to include them. Many volunteered but only two came through for me. Here’s what they had to say.
” Oh My God… This album! At the moment it’s a tie between “Love Is Madness “and Hail To The Victor for my favourite. But” Great Wide Open “brought me to tears.” Ryder “is just breathtakingly beautiful. “Dawn Will Rise “and “Remedy” too! The whole album is overwhelming listening to it took me to another plane. So many emotions. My heart is pounding and I can barely breathe. It’s truly spectacular. Thank you Mars xxx !” Emma O’Hare via messenger.
” Just listened to the entire album according to song listing. Aside from saying it was worth the long 5 rear wait. For me the album is a visual representation. At camp mars last Jared said the new album would be the soundtrack for A “Day In The Life Of America.” Initially I thought how would that work? But by listening to the album I get it. When each song is playing I close my eyes and I can see the song being used in the documentary. Each song conjures up images of what the cinematography or scenes playing would visually look like but in a musical sense.” -Regina Migliorini via messenger.
The U.S. tour will start in June and wrap in July. The band’s documentary “A Day In A Life Of America ” is rumored to be released this July 4th.
