A Quick History on Finn Balor (Prince Devitt)’s Career
Fergal Devitt (Finn Balor, Prince Devitt)
Fergal Devitt is better known as Finn Bálor or The Demon King. Born on July 25th 1981 in Bray, County Wicklow, Republic of Ireland. He is known as the longest running NXT Champion and the first Raw Universal Champion.
Finn Bálor is a Three-Time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and a six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion. He is a two-time winner of the Best of the Super Juniors tournament. Devitt is considered the founding member of the Bullet Club.
Bullet Club-“a professional wrestling group, primarily appearing in the Japanese promotion New Japan Pro-Wrestling and in the U.S., the group appears in Ring of Honor.”
New Japan Pro-Wrestling-“Referred to as NJPW or simply New Japan, is a major Japanese puroresu or professional wrestling promotion founded in January 1972.”
Puroresu -The popular term for the predominant style or genre of professional wrestling that has developed in Japan.
Fergal also went on to wrestle in other independent promotions such as ICW, Becoming ICW Zero-G Champion.
After watching Fergal Devitt wrestle as Finn Bálor in NXT and Raw. Then going back to his ICW matches and New Japan matches the character dynamic is different. Devitt proves that he can be a very powerful heel in this industry. I do not have time to go over all of Devitt’s matches but the number of New Japan matches range over the hundreds, which is just my educational guest. I have only personally viewed over 20 New Japan matches with Prince Devitt and two ICW matches. I personally enjoyed Devitt’s triumph as being a heel.
It is unknown what is coming up for Finn Balor’s persona as the Demon King. We are uncertain if this upcoming feud with Bray Wyatt could lead into that. The WWE universe can only hope to see the Demon King one more time.
