A state of emergency that should have been declared since day 1 in Chicago
Now I know what you are thinking, Nathan how can you be confused with what is going on with the Chicago Bulls. Before the season started I predicted that the Chicago Bulls would be easily a top 4 seed in an Eastern Conference that is mediocre. Could things get any worse with the Bulls right now they are currently the 8th seed with a record of 24-26 it is day 93, and boy was I wrong.
In this article I am going to break down why there should have already been a state of emergency since day in Chicago with the bulls.
The Chicago Bulls stink right now, we can not deny that weird draft picks, injuries, inconsistency, and disagreements within the front office have clearly shown the state of this team. There is a multitude of issues with the Bulls, but with Dwayne Wade and Jimmy Butler coming out about the team’s recent performance currently 4-6 in there last ten games. This is where the confusion comes into the equation let’s start in the offseason. No one is acting like teenagers here these problems go back to when Tom Thibodeau.
Jimmy Butler is top ten player in the NBA, currently averaging 24.9 ppg, 4.8 apg, and 6.6 rpg. Butler is the face of this franchise just to see this guy put it all on the court every night is beyond amazing. The talent around him is very hard to figure out it is certainly different from Derrick Rose had before being traded to the New York Knicks.
Rajon Rondo is currently on the books for Chicago Bulls for the next two-year, $28 million. It has been clearly documented that Rondo is not getting along with the coach partially because Coach Hoiberg, and the system that he is in. Rondo is currently averaging,6.4 ppg, 5.5 rpg,and 6.5 apg
Dwayne Wade is currently on the books 2-year contract worth $47.5 million to me going to Chicago I compare him to Paul Pierce going to Wizards. Pierce brought an attitude to the Wizards, he brought veteran leadership, and an identity. Dwayne Wade is leader, but he is an aging superstar on a team that continues that be up and down will most likely not make the playoffs. Wade is currently averaging 19.1 ppg, 3.7 apg, and 4.2 rpg. With the recent body language do expect Dwayne Wade to leave Chicago to either play with Lebron in Cleveland, or Los Angeles with CP3, Melo, and possibly Lebron.
In the beginning the starting lineup was…
When you look at that lineup what is the first thing that comes to mind?
A.) Athleticism is terrible
B.) No Shooting
Outside of these three what does Jimmy Butler have to work with? Virtually nothing, Michael Carter-Williams is just another point guard that can not shoot, Nikola Mirotic who we thought needed a year to get acclimated to the NBA game– we have clearly not seen that. The rest of roster speaks for itself.
Here is where we as NBA fans are missing, what about Gar Forman and John Paxson? Are they not the ones who put this roster together? This is what Tom Thibodeau was trying to point out the way these two control the team and, just battle with the coach and not willing to accept responsibility. John Paxson and Gar Forman need to fired, and I am surprised no one seems to put the pieces together.
What Rondo said in his Instagram Post yesterday I , agree 100% you most certainly keep that in the locker room but let’s take a step back for example, Rondo says what Wade and Butler did is not leadership. Here is my question for Rondo: When you say leadership, what leadership did you show when you played for the Dallas Mavericks? Not playing a certain way Rick Carlisle wanted you to play? Did you show leadership? What about Sacramento? Remember when you ignorantly made a comment towards Tim Kennedy last season? Did you show leadership then? Those are facts, and that’s the truth. I am not trying to call out Rondo because he’s one of my favorite point guards in the game. It is just weird to me that you show leadership with this situation, when you did not show any leadership in those situations I clearly pointed out.
What Wade and Butler said was 100% percent correct but you keep that in the locker room, that is why the NBA today lacks leadership the oldest guy in your locker room is 25-29 years old. We have to look at the coach somewhat because his system is certainly not working at all. But as a leader you do have the right to question what’s around you. Today’s athlete just seems to care about the money, accolades, and sponsorships today which pretty damn sad. I do not blame Wade and Butler however, I do agree with Rondo saying that it should always stay in the locker room. Today the Bulls had a team meeting with Gar Forman and, let us see what is going to happen.
The Chicago Bulls are a team that is clearly without an identity, they have guys that can play, but to show effort on the court every night is very sad as a fan, and an athlete. The Bulls play the Miami Heat tonight let’s see if this game is a turnaround for them.
