‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Recap and Review: “Window of Opportunity”
In the second episode of season six, this new arc in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s story begins to open up, even more, giving viewers a lot of Fitz and Enoch out in space and the beginnings of an explanation about Sarge. Here’s a recap of “Window of Opportunity”.
Fitz in Space
In space, Fitz and Enoch get their cover blown after trying to hide and work aboard a space pirate’s ship. Fitz has to convince the man to let them work for free so they don’t get launched into space. As Fitz works to fix the ship as fast as they can, their Xandarian boss, Viso, lets them know that he’s killing off his crew since now has a more efficient Fitz as a slave.
Fitz is able to rework the airlock system so when Viso tries to launch them into space, he launches himself out.
Sarge and Co.
While Sarge and his crew hit a convenience store for supplies including a slushie, they get a feel for the earth, its weapons, and currency. Later, Sarge and his crew have a little tiff when Pax (Matt O’Leary) expresses displeasure that nobody is reacting to their partner’s death and that Snowflake got off for bad behavior. Their tension doesn’t disappear but they decide to focus on getting more PEGs, crystals that can create an electrical charge.
Pax wants to get back and chill a little bit on earth, but Sarge isn’t having it. In a shipping yard, they’re spotted by a security guard but get away without much effort. Sarge warns Jaco to look after Pax because he’s starting to sound like Tinker. He also advises him to start looking into a replacement.
The Fight on the Ground
At S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ, Mack sends his agents out to hunt for their latest threat. He sends YoYo and Keller off to work together, seemingly unaware that they’re an item. May isn’t happy that he doesn’t tell everyone about her sighting of a Coulson, but Mack is hesitant to spread that news until they find out who Sarge is and why he looks like Coulson.
When May suggests that Mack goes to talk to Keller about Agent Fox’s death, Mack says, “he’ll be going to someone else for comfort”, hinting that he’s aware of Keller and YoYo’s relationship. As they get a hit on Sarge and his crew after their encounter with the security guard in the shipping yard. When DNA evidence from the nearby store confirms that Sarge’s DNA is an exact match for Coulson, they’re all shook.
The agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are just behind when Sarge, Pax, and Snowflake rob a jewelry store. They use their otherworldly tech to open a passive that connected them to their truck. When they get to the store, Sarge and his team are inside the vault with one of their employees.
May realizes something is up and goes back to the shipping yard. There she finds Sarge’s truck. She knocks out Pax and holds her own against Snowflake and Jaco until Sarge arrives. She freezes and gets knocked through the opening back into the vault.
While May is less than happy about her lost, Dr. Benson shows Mack footage found on Tinker’s camera. It shows Sarge and Jaco looking on as a planet around them deteriorates.
Final take on last week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
There’s nothing I love more than watching May put in work! I loved Ming-Na’s scenes. I’m happy to see where Fitz is but this episode left us wondering where Jemma and co were until the VERY end of the episode. Cliffhangers make me antsy. I’m looking forward to seeing how Mack and YoYo handle things and how the origin of Sarge plays out. I’m giving “Window of Opportunity” a 7 out of 10.
