Two weeks into the preseason, and fantasy owners are glued to whatever screens they are watching on in 2018, trying to get an edge over the next guy in our fantasy leagues. Some guys like Julio Jones and Le’Veon Bell we won’t see until the regular season. Outside of those guys, especially in larger leagues like a 14-man league, draft boards start getting dryer than a desert quickly, so finding value in certain rounds could be pretty tricky.

I no longer believe in the term “sleepers” anymore because right after the Super Bowl moving forward all the way until the next season you hear all your preferred analysts, podcasts, fantasy shows, etc giving you a list of guys to keep an eye on for the upcoming season. So I’m here to do the exact same thing. Give you a list of “sleepers”. Just kidding! Let’s just say late round value.

Patrick Mahomes

My, oh my! The season hasn’t started yet, and I could already tell you that drafting Mahomes is going to be a love-hate dilemma. You either go for a top-tier quarterback early on, or you pair Mahomes with another QB, and play matchups each week. Mahomes threw a 69-yard bomb to Tyreek Hill for the touchdown in the last preseason game, and that was probably enough for some owners to wait on a quarterback for later rounds, but expect some hiccups.

David Njoku

I’m excited for Njoku this season, it could be all preseason hype right now, but he’s giving all of the fantasy world some hope for the TE position. He’s been on the field with the starters, he’s been targeted quite a bit, and he looks like he’s ready to challenge the other Browns starters for more catches.

Michael Gallup

Giddy up y’all, for a second straight week Michael Gallup had another solid performance. He almost had another touchdown in the end zone, but Dak just missed him–by a bit. As each week goes by Gallup’s ADP rises, so don’t “sleep” too much on this rookie.

Peyton Barber

I personally think Barber listened to several fantasy shows, podcasts, and got fed up with everybody putting him aside, and naming Ronald Jones as the back to own in Tampa. We’re still seeing it in drafts, and I for one have gotten Jones pretty early–while Barber is going in double-digit rounds, or not even drafted at all. Barber, so far has looked the part and has outperformed Jones so far and is even getting reps with the starters. Jones is still a talented guy, but if you need some late round depth/value, target Barber.

Anthony Miller

Miller has been a trendy player lately, and hell, our very own Brandon Reid almost took the rookie wide out No.1 overall in our MFST fantasy league (we hope he was kidding of course). Miller is one of those other guys being left off some draft boards, but I’m telling you, don’t think Miller is going to keep trending down moving forward.

Matt Breida

Yes he’s out for the rest of the preseason with a shoulder injury. No you shouldn’t overlook him. Jerrick McKinnon is not a bell cow back, and in most cases, the McKinnon owner isn’t even hand cuffing Breida. Take Breida late in drafts, and you could possibly have a solid RB2, or even a starting running back come mid-season.

Jordan Reed

I’ll keep this short. We all know what Reed can do when healthy. He’s a top 5 TE easily, and if you have the chance to get him in the ninth or tenth rounds, I’m all in.

Mike Williams

The former top 10 pick in the 2017 NFL draft is ready to break out this season, and you know what? He’s dirt cheap right now. Keenan Allen is still the number one guy for the Chargers, but forget about Williams’ injury plagued season last year, and take him late with high hopes for 2018.

Roc Thomas

I saved the best for last… ol I’m kidding, look Roc Thomas in general is an awesome name to say. It sounds like a WWE character, or even like a Marvel Villain, but keep an eye on Roc Thomas. He’s looked good so far in preseason, and the short pass from Siemian that he took to the house for 78-yards and the touchdown was icing on the cake.

There’s a chance Thomas may not make the final cut. He’s currently dealing with an injury, but with Dalvin Cook coming off an ACL injury, Latavius Murray fighting for more reps, Thomas could be a late round flyer. Just keep an eye on this undrafted free agent out of Jacksonville state, because he’s been exciting to watch so far.
