Antonio Brown asking to be traded?
What in the world is going on with the Pittsburgh Steelers? For a team that was considered to be a legit Super Bowl contender out of the AFC this season, the team has been quite the circus act in this young season.
No Le’Veon Bell yet, and now Antonio Brown is skipping out on practice. This would be great for a television drama, but not what Pittsburgh was hoping for in real life. Mike Tomlin was not thrilled with the tie in Week 1, and for the home-opener, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs invaded Heinz field, and came away with a five-point victory.
Even as Pittsburgh made a comeback in the game, Brown was not a huge part in the game, as he finished third in receiving yards behind Smith-Schuster and Jesse James. To put even more of a twist in this whole situation, Brown was caught on film in a shouting match with Steelers offensive coordinator, Randy Fichtner during the loss. Immediately after the game, Brown left the stadium before reporters were even allowed into the locker room.
Number 84 has been no stranger to drama, especially on his social media accounts in the past. But Monday he called out a former employee on Twitter when Ryan Scarpino took a shot at the veteran wide receiver, talking about how if it wasn’t for Roethlisberger, that Brown would’ve never gotten paid, or be the household name that he is today. Brown responded by saying “Trade me, let’s find out”.
Mike Tomlin confirmed that Brown missed out on practice, but would not go on to stir the pot, and Big Ben also did his best to defuse the situation. Looking ahead to week 3, Tomlin better rally up his guys, because Ryan Fitzpatrick has not shown any signs of slowing down, especially if he wants to remain the starter for the Bucs. The Steelers defense hasn’t been great lately either, so if Fitz can carry that swag into Week 3 with another solid performance, don’t expect the drama to die down in Pittsburgh any time soon.
