‘Batman’ Solo Film Will Be An Original Story
As we all know, Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns have confirmed that they are indeed working together on the next solo Batman film. But what we do not know is what the movie will be about or who the villain/villains will be. We do know that Ben Affleck (Batman) and Jeremy Irons (Alfred) will be returning and we assume J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon) will be in the film as well. Many fans including myself have speculated that Joker (Jared Leto) might be in the film or possibly Riddler since he was an Easter Egg in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film. Also fans speculate that Ben will adapt the Red Hood story line or even Hush. During his press tour for Batman v Superman, Ben spoke with the media and had this to say:
“I think what I would do, what I probably would do, is in some ways what Zack did with this movie, which is to borrow certain things from the great comic books, but create an original story around it because I wouldn’t want the fans to already know the story and be familiar, but I would borrow, steal, great things that have been done before in the comics.”
I think Ben has many options here and even borrowing from several stories he can still make the film original and his own. I for one am very excited to see what Ben and Geoff bring to the movie. I do not think we need Joker at this time and it would be good to see some other members of his rogue gallery on-screen. We now know that WB/DC have confirmed that Dick Grayson was not the dead Robin in BvS and that it was indeed Jason Todd. That information alone helps set up the appearance of Red Hood. Maybe Ben borrows from Arkham Knight and we see Jason as Arkham Knight before he becomes Red Hood. What villain or villains would you like to see? If Ben does borrow from other comics, which story line would you want to see elements from? Please comment below and remember to check out MFST for all your Marvel/DC news.
