The Bengals are expected to lose their first-round draft pick for the entire 2019 season.

According to Bengals.com, left tackle Jonah Williams will have surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder that will sideline his for his entire rookie season.

Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor issued a statement:

“We look forward to Jonah being a major contributor in the future, and know that he won’t let this injury deter him from still being an important part of this team…We’re confident in our offensive line personnel as we head into training camp, and we believe they can do their part in helping this team achieve its goals.”

Williams was our No.1 tackle prospect in the lead-up to the 2019 NFL Draft and this will be a tough blow to the Cincinnati offensive line corps.

Cordy Glenn was moved inside to guard when Williams was healthy and practicing earlier in the offseason–however, with the injury he will likely kick back to the outside. Nine-year veteran John Jerry is presumed to take over the starting left guard job for Glenn.
