Al-Farouq Aminu has agreed to a four-year, $30 million deal with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to sources. There are a lot of people referring to this as a great signing for the Blazers (and a loss for the Mavericks), but it appears as if NBA teams are going to overpay for free agents this year. Aminu is a defensive player that can cover multiple position players, but his career averages are pretty low in his five seasons at the NBA level (6.4 points per game, 1.1 assists, 5.3 rebounds). Those numbers don’t line up with almost $10 million per year, but adding defensive players is important.
