In a shocking announcement, the Los Angeles Angels have announced pitcher Tyler Skaggs passed away this morning in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas. The Angels released a brief statement on Twitter saying, “It is with great sorrow that we report Tyler Skaggs passed away earlier today in Texas. Tyler has, and always will be, an important part of the Angels family.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Carli and his entire family during this devastating time.”

Monday’s game against Texas has been canceled as a result.

There are not any confirmed reports of the cause of death at this moment, but we will be sure to update you as we receive any further information.

During this time, the MFST family sends its thoughts and prayers to the Skaggs family.

Update:

While there is no official statement yet, we are hearing Tyler’s death is the result of an overdose with no foul play suspected.

Police will make an official statement later tonight…
