The Milwaukee Brewers have called-up top-100 prospect Domingo Santana, who was brought over in the Gomez/Fiers trade with the Astros. Santana, who has played briefly in the majors the past two seasons, is considered to be a power-hitting outfielder with solid defense in the corner positions.

In Triple-A this season, Santana isĀ hitting .333 with 18 homers and a 1.000 OPS in 95 games. The Brewers who are close to hitting the reset button and enter a true rebuild, will look to Santana to be a possible cornerstone piece in their outfield for years to come. Ryan Braun’s fully entrenched in right field, but he could be moved in the offseason if any team is willing to take on his contract, and Khris Davis has had a rough year in left field making his future with Milwaukee questionable at best.

If anything this call-up gives young manager Craig Counsel to see what he has in Santana as they look to cultivate their young talent for next season.
