With Peyton Manning retiring just weeks ago, the Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos had to address their quarterback situation. It needed such attention, that they gave up their 3rd round pick to move up five spots, and grab their guy. That guy is Paxton Lynch, quarterback from Memphis.

While Jared Goff and Carson Wentz were clearly the top two QB’s in this year’s draft, Paxton Lynch was clearly number three, and worthy of a 1st round pick.

Lynch declared for the NFL Draft on December 31st. At the time, many draft analysts had Paxton as the number one quarterback prospect.

He fell 1,350 yards shy of becoming the Tigers all-time leading passer. He also guided the Tigers to two straight bowls games. Before that, Memphis had only played in seven bowl games total.

Paxton Lynch is just the second ever Memphis quarterback to be drafted. He is 6’7, has a strong arm, and is very athletic for a 6’7 QB. He registered a 37″ vertical jump at the NFL Combine.

Under the tutelage of John Elway, Paxton has a huge opportunity. Not only do you have a NFL Hall-of-Fame mentor, you have a defending Super Bowl squad surrounding you.

It’s unknown how the Broncos QB situation will unfold. They acquired Mark Sanchez from Philadelphia and I believe they intend on making him the starter. Honestly, Paxton will need time to learn the NFL speed.

But it’s been done before. Rookie QB’s are thrown into the fire from day one all the time. They either sink or swim. If Lynch gets the opportunity to outplay Sanchez, and does, he could become the first rookie quarterback ever, to win the Super Bowl.

NO matter what happens from here on, this was an amazing moment…
