Catching Up on ‘Dynasty: Episode 9: “Crazy Lady”
In the last part of this mini catching up on Dynasty series, this is ninth episode as well as their Christmas episode where the Carringtons search for Little Blake, Culhane continues to work with Ada, and we’re left with a huge cliffhanger by the end of the episode.
Despite the fact that Ada is no longer blackmailing Culhane, he’s still working with her, mostly because the dangerous aspect of it turns him on. But his decision to keep working with her comes with a cost, a high one. As he’s transporting antiques, he realizes that something’s off about the situation and discovers that these antiques have heroin inside them and that Ada only did so that that company would get caught, which Culhane, and the other men, are not happy about.
It only gets worse when Jeff shows up to confront Culhane about releasing a smoke bomb into Monica’s club, even more so when they hear police sirens and the guys start shooting and Jeff and Culhane. Jeff gets shot, Culhane starts driving him to the hospital, but they swerve while they’re on the road and the car crashes. The episode ends with Jeff holding on to Jeff’s gunshot wound and calling Blake for help, being that Blake’s become infamous for making bad things disappear.
Little Blake is missing and everyone’s assuming that Claudia kidnapped the baby, especially with the fact that it is actually her baby. Turns out that everyone except Kirby is wrong about where the baby is. For the majority of the episode, we all think Claudia has the baby because she’s holding what we think is a baby, but then we find out she was really just holding a doll. Kirby, however, is smart enough to figure out that Manny the nanny that actually took the baby; apparently LB’s pacifier was missing, but only after the police showed up, which is when Manny came to the Carrington house to talk to them.
After a very traumatizing scene of seeing Claudia accidentally drop the doll, we find out that it’s not really a baby like we all initially thought. After that, they bring Claudia back to the house where Kirby comes back with the baby and the police arrest Claudia for killing Cristal, which she admitted to while standing on the roof of the hotel she was hiding out at. Despite the fact that Little Blake or Matthew lost his mom, he still has grandparents that didn’t even know he existed. So, Sam makes the mature choice and decides to give him back to his family. In addition to that drama, we find out that Steven didn’t get on his flight back to Atlanta for Christmas and instead, he’s gone missing.
It’s not at all surprising that Ada being nice to Culhane was just an act, even though he did save her life. I understand the appeal of Culhane being attracted to the danger of being Ada’s errand boy, but I’m not thrilled that he’s no longer the voice of reason on this show, and with Steven being gone from the show lately, everything’s just gone to hell. As for the drama with the baby, I’m still rooting for Sam and Steven to have a family together, but I’m glad Sam made the responsible and mature decision to give up baby Matthew.
Dynasty returns to the CW on January 18th at 9/8c.
