Collector Spotlight: JM Santonastaso
This week we bring you another collector and take a look at some of the awesome pieces that they have accumulated. So without further ado, let’s meet JM Santonastaso!
JM was recommended to me by Chris Meyerowitz, one of the admins of Now You See It Sports Breaks. I had seen JM in a bunch of their breaks but had never really had a chance to interact with him.
The biggest parts of JM’s collection are his football helmets and baseball autographs. He also has a few basketball pieces and a hockey stick.
“My favorite part of collecting is the excitement of winning things in breaks or trading for something you really want. It’s a lot of fun meeting people like myself who enjoy collecting. I’ve met many people who I make trades with and I always like to see how happy they get and myself as well, when a trade works out for both of us getting something from the team we love.”
How Did The Collection Start:
“I’ve been collecting since I was 6. It started out with baseball cards and comic books. My first memorabilia piece I got was a game used Pat LaFontaine (hockey) stick signed by the whole team. I actually won it at a sports night raffle at my school when I was 7. That got me into collecting”
“My favorite piece is my Odell Beckham Jr. photo. I had gone to a signing and met him two days before he became super famous for that catch against Dallas. It’s my favorite because I got to meet him when he was coming up and not that popular. I appreciate the guys who are hungry to be great rather than the cocky ones. I feel they are more humble and appreciate the fans more!”
Holy Grail Item:
“The holy grail piece I’m looking to get my hands on a team signed 86-87 Giants helmet from the year they won the super bowl. That is my holy grail!”
“It’s an expensive hobby, so get ready to spend some money!”
