Cooper's Treasure

Tonight’s episode of Cooper’s Treasure opens with Darrell Miklos talking about anomaly #4. He says there are seven areas on both the master chart and Cooper’s notes. He turns to the ship wreck recoverist Mel Fisher.

Mel found the Nuestra Senora de Atocha that sank in Key West, Florida. The wreck was worth several billions. They are still finding it today. Mel’s daughter Kim found a 28-foot gold chain worth $850,000 dollars from the wreck.

Darrell asks him about #4. Mel begins to explain that he made a hybrid metal detector that could see six feet past mud and bedrock. It looks for other metals besides iron. They test it for #4. It finds something. The diver stakes it and calls for a dredger to be brought in. They find a bomb-strap. Although not the treasure they hoped for, it proves Cooper’s notes and chart are correct.

Cooper’s notes tell Darrell to go to Turks and Caicos to look for the Pinzon brothers captains of the Christopher Columbus expedition.

Darrell is prompted by his dad Roger and the Fishers to research and obtain a ships manifest. The manifest is an official document that lists the description of a ship’s cargo. Like amount, weight, even numbers stamped on the gold or silver.

Darrell goes home to research and spend time with his family. His wife gives him an ultimatum. Last try which he promises.

Darrell’s father Roger Miklos was rumored to have found the Pinta. He found lead cannon balls, a cannon, a wheel hub axle that was carbon dated to 1496. That ship had four tons of red pearls.

Darrell heads for Spanish waters to obtain the manifest. The archives are in the Indies. It contains all Spanish ship documents heading to the new world. He finds what he is looking for but its in Castilian Spanish. He studies replicas of Columbus and the Pinzons ships. He says the cannon and anchor will be what helps him to identify the Columbus ships.

He finds a palographer to translate the manifest. The Santa Maria has silver ,copper and semi-precious stones aboard.
