Cooper's Treasure

After a several week hiatus I’m back, covering a new tv show—Cooper’s Treasure. This show makes you feel like your childhood dreams of being an astronaut or a treasure hunter could become a reality.

The pilot episode opens with us meeting Darrell Miklos, shipwreck treasure recover-er. He divulges a secret to a longtime friend and former astronaut L.Gordon Cooper Jr. better known as “Gordo”. Cooper told him about a treasure map from space, with sunken treasure from ships.

Gordon Cooper was one of the original seven astronauts. He flew missions for both the Mercury and Gemini projects. Cooper told his friend Darrell that the government asked NASA to fly near Cuba to look for nuclear sites from space. While following orders, Cooper began noticing objects that he believed were sunken ships with treasures on them. He began taking pictures with his special imaging equipment and taking notes. He even drew a map.

Cooper died October 6, 2004. He left Darrell’s father Roger Miklos the chart, but left Darrell the notes and map. Darrell asks to meet with retired NASA engineers to ask if the spacecraft had such imaging on board to capture sunken treasure.

He meets the following engineers: Earl Mullins, Jerry Roberts, Earl Robb, Norm Beckel, Dean Purdy and Bob Schepp. All had top-secret clearance. They said they weren’t aware the craft had such technology but said if it did only four or five people would know and they would not have been told. They tell Darrell it would have been located in the periscope.

Excited by this news Darrell packs and heads to Cameche, Mexico. There was a large silver mine there. He stated one of the ships that sank during the Spanish Inquisition had a cargo worth $500 million in treasure. Darrell flies overhead in a plane looking for the right markings on the map. He spots it and later he and his diving buddy Steve search the area. It’s not the right spot.

Darrell needs the chart from his estranged father Roger. They agree to meet but the meeting quickly turns to an argument. Darrell leaves without the chart.

This show airs on the Discovery Channel Tuesday at 10:00pm. It took 12 months and is 40 yrs in the making. So buckle up we are in for an adventure.
