‘Cooper’s Treasure’ Season 2 Episode 7 Recap: “Into The Storm”
Last week on Cooper’s Treasure, Darrell and Eric found a very large wood plank, ballast, and more barrel hoops and pieces of iron in Friday’s opening sequence. Viewers may recall Darrell and Eric also found glittering gold nuggets littering the ocean floor. They informed Jim and Mike to come alongside and explain their findings. Jim believed it could be gold dust, just like Jim found on a previous expedition on a ship called Santa Marguerite.
Darrell and Eric began scavenging for materials to build a sluicing device. If it is gold the gold would stick, but anything else would be washed out. Jim dove and filled up a bucket and sent it aboard. He also found copper sheathing. Before Darrell and Eric sluice the contents it resembled river rock with gold ore. The sluice worked and they found gold dust. Jim recalled a story of Blackbeard’s ship, The Queen Anne’s Revenge. It was a scuttle ship carrying gold dust. It sank and wasn’t recovered.
Mike triple checked the ledge in the deep waters where the anchor was found. But the team first mounted a metal detector onto the submarine. At first, there was interference and the detector had to be adjusted away from the sub. Mike found nothing. Meanwhile, the team did find a cargo hook despite having difficulty getting the detector to give off a signal in deep sand.
Darrell believed it was a huge ship. Only huge ships needed a cargo hook to move cargo on board. It was suspected any treasure that may be found will be found a couple of thousand feet from where they have been diving.
A storm rolled in and the crew had to tie down any equipment so it wasn’t lost or damaged at sea. The crew had no choice but to make a game plan while they waited. Jim examined the artifacts they have found so far. Eric checked the equipment to make sure its good and operational condition. Mike watches the video and checks exact locations of anomalies so they can dive. Darrell was nervous because they may have to end the expedition with no treasure. In the end, the storm blew over. Unfortunately, it leaves them 48 hours to find a viable treasure or go home empty-handed.
This week will be the season finale of season two of Cooper’s Treasure.
