Cowboys putting too much stock in Darren McFadden
With the news of Joseph Randle’s release, I can’t stop thinking…do the Dallas Cowboys trust Darren McFadden that much? By no means is Randle considered an elite back in my eyes, but he has shown the ability to make it on the NFL field and provided the Cowboys with above average play. His off the field issues ultimately led to his demise with the team, but his play on the field did not.
Last week was McFadden’s first start with Dallas, and he did not disappoint accumulating 113 yards from scrimmage and was the lone bright spot for the Cowboys offense. The week prior he had 152 rushing yards and added one score. Those numbers helped prompt Dallas to part ways with Randle, but is his two-game sample size enough to make such a drastic move?
Let’s not forget, six of McFadden’s seven years in the league he has failed to play in 16 games and has only topped the thousand yard plateau once in his career, and that came back in 2010 when he was 23 years-old. Now at age 28, McFadden is not the same explosive back he was at Arkansas (Jerry Jones’ alma mater) that prompted him to be the fourth overall pick in 2008.
If McFadden can keep up his play, it will be one of the great career revival’s, but what if he gets hurt next week? The Cowboys will be forced to rely on former-Seahawk Christine Michael and undrafted free agent Rod Smith. Both are supposedly very talented, but have less than 70 career carries between the two of them.
With Tony Romo expected to return in two weeks, Dallas can still make a push for the division but will need the running game to help take the pressure off of Romo’s back. Jerry Jones and the entire Cowboys organization are putting too many eggs in McFadden’s basket and he has not shown the ability to be relied on in the NFL. Only time will tell if the correct decision was made….https://www.myfantasysportstalk.com/cowboys-putting-too-much-stock-in-darren-mcfadden/https://i1.wp.com/www.myfantasysportstalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/a6.jpg?fit=1024%2C667&ssl=1https://i1.wp.com/www.myfantasysportstalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/a6.jpg?resize=150%2C150&ssl=1AnalysisDallas CowboysFantasyFF SleepersFootballNFC EastNFLRecent PostsChristine Michael,Dallas Cowboys,Darren McFadden,Joseph Randle,NFL,Rod SmithWith the news of Joseph Randle's release, I can't stop thinking...do the Dallas Cowboys trust Darren McFadden that much?
