Dalton Risner Scouting Report

Dalton Risner scouting report
(KSU Athletics)

Strengths:

  • Solid mechanics
  • Strong
  • Strong hands can snatch and secure opponents
  • Has anchor to hold his ground against a power surge
  • Has mean streak
  • Gets to second level
  • High character
  • Versatile

Weaknesses:

  • Slow coming out of stance
  • Hands too wide in the run game
  • Not the quickest laterally
  • Quick edge rushers have gotten the best of him at times

Analysis: Dalton Risner is one of the highest character guys in the draft and will put the work in to be successful at the next level. He has average length, athleticism and lateral ability which will ultimately affect his draft stock, but his game is consistent. He has strong hands, a powerful base that rarely gets knocked off and solid body control to withstand NFL power. He is a versatile player after starting games at both right tackle and center–but if I were drafting him, I would look to play him inside because I fear he will not be able to handle NFL speed from solid edge rushers.

Size: 6’5 312lbs

Draft Rank: Outside Top 5 OL

NFL Comparison: Cody Whitehair

Draft Projection: Day 2 pick
