‘Dangerous Woman Tour’ Review
On Friday, March 31 Ariana Grande brought her Dangerous Woman Tour to The Forum in Los Angeles. The Forum was lit up with pink lights and bunny shadows. The show was sold out and the arena was loud with excitement prior to the beginning of the show.
Sacramento native, Victoria Monet took the stage first. Victoria looks like a star in her yellow ensemble. She starts off her set with some killer choreography causing the crowd to cheer. The arena is not yet full yet, but the people who were already in their seats showed Victoria the utmost amount of excitement. The Forum filled with screams as she started dancing to Bad and Boujee by Migos. Her set lasted about twenty minutes and included her songs New Love, High Luv, and Freak.
Next up was British girl group Little Mix: Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson, and Perrie Edwards. They started off with their female empowerment single, Salute, getting the whole arena hyped up and yelling “attention” right along with them. Next they had us all flipping our hair to their single off the third album Hair ft. Sean Paul, which transitioned into Whip My Hair which they brought Ariana’s brother Frankie Grande out to dance with them. The crowd sang along with them as they started performing the first single off of their first album Wings. Their newest single, Touch was next and they closed their set with Shoutout to My Ex. They left the crowd cheering and definitely wanting more.
The countdown for Ariana to come on the stage was getting the crowd incredibly hyped and every time a minute passed, screams erupted through the theatre. Ariana started off the show with Be Alright from her most recent album. Everyone is on their feet and screaming for her. Ariana completely owns the stage, and her vocals are out of this world! She has the whole arena in the palm of her hands with every high note. She looks incredible in her black ensemble with her signature black knee-high boots.
She then performed her most recent single Everyday ft. Future. The crowd sang along to the chorus loudly. Her stage props look amazing. The pillars move up and down while the dancers did their choreography on them during Bad Decisions. She has a new white outfit and killer stair choreography for Knew Better/ Forever Boy, which also had an incredible transition. When she did an old favorite One Last Time The Forum was filled with fans singing along with her. During Touch It the graphics were hypnotic and the pillars were in full effect.
During another costume change an empowering video of Ariana played, keeping the crowd entertained while we waited anxiously for the next song. The platform raises and Ariana reappears with her dancers on bicycle machines that one would see at the gym as she performed Side to Side ft. Nicki Minaj. That transitions into Bang Bang, which she collaborated with Jessie J. and Nicki Minaj on. The crowd goes absolutely wild when she hits the famous note that in the original version of the song Jessie J. sings.
Next she does Moonlight, which has the most beautiful arrangement and production. It feels like we’re all in outer space. She sits at the end of the catwalk and hits every note perfectly. The crowd is back on their feet for Break Free which was accompanied with white laser lights and a shadowy spotlight. Ariana brought out her boyfriend, Mac Miller to perform their song The Way together. It was very romantic and intimate and the song ended with a kiss prompting an “aww” through the arena.
The show ended with some of her best songs, Problem, Into You, and after having one last spectacular costume change she closes out the show with Dangerous Woman, she has a little difficulty with her mic stand, but she gets through it with grace and professionalism and doesn’t miss a note. After expressing her love for her fans, she exits the stage.
The concert as a whole was amazing. All of the girls performed wonderfully and it was great to be in the presence of talented, powerful women who knew how to put on a show. After the concert ended, the crowd buzzed about all of the performers and everyone seemed satisfied, and I know I was.
