In an interesting turn of events, it appears that DeAndre Jordan might be second guessing his decision to join the Dallas Mavericks. He is meeting with Clippers’ owner Steve Ballmer, Coach Doc Rivers and point guard Chris Paul today, as the three of them have flown down to Jordan’s Houston-area home. This move is very peculiar, to say the least, and Jordan seems to be re-thinking his decision to a four-year, $80 million verbal agreement with the Mavericks.

This situation is one that hasn’t regularly occurred, at least not in recent memory, and a game of tug-of-war is taking place between the Clippers and Mavericks. The stakes are high if the Clippers lose DeAndre Jordan’s services, as he has been a one-man wrecking crew on the boards for the Clips. The one thing that might come into play in this scenario is the strained relationship between Jordan and Chris Paul, although the fact that Paul is in Houston to meet with him is a good sign for LA.

It doesn’t take much to look at the reason why the Clippers are trying to persuade DeAndre Jordan to come back to Lob City. In 2014-15, DeAndre Jordan averaged 11.5 points, 15.0 rebounds (4.8 offensive) and 2.2 blocks per game, and those are very solid numbers for any big man in the NBA. In his career, Jordan has averaged 8.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game, so those are some very convincing numbers as to why the Clippers are trying their best to reel him back in.

According to sources though, Jordan is “leaning” towards a return to LA, via Marc Stein (ESPN). This is really the last opportunity that the Clippers have to talk DeAndre Jordan into returning to the team, as tomorrow marks the first day that teams can officially sign free agents to contracts.

Where will DeAndre Jordan end up signing a new contract: Dallas or LA? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
