DeMarcus Cousins puts up video game numbers in historic triple-double night
For the most of Monday night the New Orleans Pelicans were trailing the Chicago Bulls, but if anybody on the Pelicans roster was going to do anything about it, it had to DeMarcus Cousins. In an arena that was about 3/4 full the Fans who attended the game definitely got their money’s worth, and got to witness a rare performance that hasn’t been seen in decades! Literally.
Only two players in @NBAHistory have ever totaled as many PTS/REBS/ASTS in a single game as DeMarcus Cousins (44 PTS/24 REBS/10 ASTS) did tonight:

Boogie went nuts, messed around and got a triple-double posting up NBA 2k like video games numbers with 44 points, 24 rebounds, and 10 assists. You read that right, that was not a typo or some video game stat line, and to top it off the Pelicans marched back after being down by ten points with fours minutes to go, to take the victory over Chicago. Cousins now joins an elite list of NBA players to ever record such a game. Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, Oscar Robertson, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who was the last player to put up a 40-point, 20-rebound, 10-assist triple-double game which was way back in 1972 when short shorts were still a thing.
Anthony Davis had himself a monster night as well posting 34-points, 9-rebounds, 5-assists, and the chatter is still surrounding Cousins. Now if only the Pelicans can get Cousins to perform along these lines from here on out.
