Derrius Guice tore his ACL
Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice suffered a torn ACL in Thursday night’s preseason opener against the New England Patriots, according to a person familiar with today’s MRI results.
The Redskins’ second-round draft pick left the game in the first quarter after he was tackled following on a 34-yard gain that was negated by a holding penalty.
Reports originally called the injury a “sprained MCL” and the rookie would be out 4-6 weeks—but new reports have Guice missing his entire rookie season.
This is devastating news not only for Guice, but the Redskins as a whole. They were expected to give a bulk of the carries to the rookie from LSU. Now, look for Samaje Perine and Rob Kelley to hold the first and second down duties in Washington, with Chris Thompson being the scat/receiving back.
MFST will update you as more information is released.
