Different Falcons team in 2016
This year, the Falcons are a lot different from last year, and I’m going to tell you why. We all know how the Falcons started off the season last year 5-0 and with high hopes of making it to the playoffs. They ended up finishing a mediocre 8-8 only winning 3 out of their last 11 games. Even though this is coming from a hardcore fan, this years Falcons team is a lot different from last year. For one, the run game is so versatile this year than last year. Devonta Freeman is still proving he was one of the best in league while splitting carries on Tevin Coleman. This is no knock on Tevin Coleman because he is proving that he can run and catch passes out the backfield. He currently has 234 rushing yards with 5 touchdowns and 330 receiving yards with 1 touchdown. Devonta Freeman has 508 rushing yards with 2 touchdowns. These two have been great this year, but let’s not forget about not 1 but 2 MVP Candidates!
Matt Ryan and Julio Jones are the current leaders in yards at their position. Matt Ryan is having a great year leading the NFL with 16 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, and 2,348 passing yards. Let’s not forget he has a NFL best 117.9 Qb rating! Say what you want about Matty-Ice, but he’s more focused this year and this Falcons team is a lot tougher. Let’s definitely not forget about the most dangerous and prolific player on the team. Julio Jones is the best receiver in the league, and you always have to look out to where he is on the field. He is leading the NFL with 830 yards, and in my opinion an MVP candidate just like his fellow quarterback Matt Ryan.
The Falcons are for real and this team is beating teams they wouldn’t have been able to last season. Even the Seattle loss brought Atlanta back to life a little, but the Falcons proved they can continue to fight even when in a hostile environment. They were down 17 to 3 at halftime but by the end of the 3rd quarter they were winning 24 to 17. Matt Ryan showed he can still make passes in the pocket even while being battered the entire game by a vicious Seattle defense. This team showed me it had mental toughness even though they lost that game. They will bounce back this week against the Chargers not because of their stylish black jerseys they will bring out this week, but because this a complete team with a bend don’t break defense. I legit see a Super-Bowl contending team this year and they will win the NFC South. This is not a fluke this year and Dan Quinn will be a candidate for Coach of the Year. Kyle Shanahan has proved to be a versatile OC, and has Matty Ryan playing his best football. This team has a new identity this year, and if you don’t believe it just continue to enjoy the show! Coming from a true fan, much love to all you sports fans and good luck to all your teams out there! Rise Up!!
