Dolphins thinking Playoffs?
The hottest team, and surprise in the league right now, I’d say is the Miami Dolphins. This team started the season 1-4 and were counted out by a lot of people. I’d say I didn’t think they would be 6-4, winning their last 5 games after Week 11. This is why I love football, because you can’t count any team out.
Some teams start off good (Vikings, Packers), and come back down to earth a little. Teams got off to slow starts (Redskins and Dolphins), but have picked up the pace late in this season. The Dolphins have a matchup today with the 49ers and have a chance to be 7-4 after today. Yes, this team is a threat to make the playoffs.
A big part of their success has been the emerging running game by Jay Ajayi. The rookie has balled out this year, and could be Rookie of the Year, if it wasn’t for the unreal Zeke Elliot. He has played tough helping his team with a solid running game and more swagger. He came in after Arian Foster was injured and hasn’t looked back since.
Ryan Tannehill is also having a pretty stellar season. He currently has 12 touchdowns to 4 interceptions with 65.8 completion percentage. The Defense is playing pretty good with Ndamukong Suh and Cameron Wake combining with 12.5 sacks. The Former Falcon Brent Grimes will always be underrated to me shutting down his side. He is the perfect explanation of how size doesn’t matter at 5’9.
This Dolphins team is playing pretty good and I think could be a playoff contender. I do think Tannehill needs to take that extra step and become more of game manager as QB. This team can go as far as he can take them. With a stellar defense and a solid running game, sky is the limit for this young Dolphins team.
