Strengths:

  • Decent accuracy
  • Good footwork- proper weight transfer
  • Toughness
  • Confident
  • Mobility- can escape pressure
  • Improved every year

Analysis: Grayson started 2014 not even in the NFL draft conversation.  Game after game, Grayson continued to improve and now we are talking about him not if he will be drafted, but when.  Grayson can throw an accurate deep ball that gives his receivers a chance to make the catch.  He won’t beat a lot of NFL players in a foot race, but Garrett has a sneaky ability to escape pressure and find an open receiver.  If Grayson can continue to improve his game the way he did in college, he will have a chance to stick in the NFL.

Need to Improve:

  • Wind-up- slow release
  • Progressions
  • Comprehension of NFL playbook
  • Arm strength

Analysis: Watching Grayson on tape and at the Senior Bowl, his throwing motion will need work at the next level.  His throwing motion is similar to a baseball pitcher’s windup, and the release of the ball is one of the slowest I have seen in a while.  At Senior Bowl practices, I saw Grayson’s velocity on his ball leave a lot to be desired, as defensive backs broke up a lot of his passes (WR was open but the ball took too long to get there).  Rumors are also floating around that Garrett’s ability to comprehend a NFL playbook are nonexistent, and he may not be able to run an offense at the next level.  Whether this is the case or not, Grayson will have to learn and develop as a quarterback understudy, before he can take the field.

Round Prediction: 5-6
