Dwight Howard has finalized a buyout with the Brooklyn Nets and will sign a 1-year deal for the tax MLE with the Washington Wizards once he clears waivers, league sources tell The Athletic.

This is a solid signing for the Wizards as they try to compete in the ‘weak’ East now that LeBron James bolted for Los Angeles. Washington definitely needs help at center now that they have traded Marcin Gortat. Howard would fit in nicely in basketball terms. The question will be…how will he fit in that locker room that already has its issues?
