Dynasty Recap and Review: “A Well-Dressed Tarantula”
Last night, Dynasty returned with an episode that picks up about 2 weeks after all the drama from Christmas, which if you missed that episode, you can read all about it in my recap. This week, there was even more drama coming primarily from Cristal’s side of the family. Here’s a full recap:
Blake is still angry with Cristal because she essentially lied about her identity and her past and Sammy Jo basically feels the same: angry and betrayed. Fallon is planning and eventually throws her 25th birthday party and makes it over the top because it means that she now gets her inheritance which consists of about $100 million.
After the Christmas episode, we find out that Sam’s father, Alejandro, is not only still alive but is trying to make a deal with Blake only to take his money. Later, Alejandro confronts Sam, who doesn’t even recognize him, and tells him that he’s been looking for him and Iris ever since they ran and just wants them to be a family again.
Eventually, Cristal sees Alejandro again when Blake gets her to help make the deal with him because she speaks the same language and they’re from the same place, AKA, Venezuela. He basically blackmails Cristal into convincing Blake to go through with the deal by holding an associate of theirs hostage and he almost gets away with all of it, well almost is kind of a stretch: at least we all think he almost got away with it.
Let me explain: Cristal, Blake, Fallon, and Sam work together to get Davis out from wherever Alejandro’s people are holding him and they stage this scene of what looked like Blake betraying Cristal. But despite them all winning this battle, Iris and Alejandro make it clear that they are not messing around and they still want the money they think they deserve. At the end of the episode, Fallon gets in her new car that Jeff got her and gets kidnapped by Iris who was waiting in the back seat for here.
Judging by the promo for next week’s episode, it looks like Alejandro and Iris are going to continue to do whatever it takes to get that money. Iris not only feels betrayed by her sister not only because she tried to kill her husband but because Cristal got to go to America and get rich while she was back in Venezuela just trying to get by and begging for scraps from her, which I get but if there’s one word to describe this family, it’s complicated.
In other news, Jeff and Fallon are still business partners with benefits, if you will, but Jeff wants to take the next step in their relationship, which would be sweet if Jeff and his father weren’t plotting to take over Carrington Atlantic. At first, it was unclear what Jeff and his dad were up to, only that they both didn’t like the Carrington’s and that they wanted them to go down somehow.
At the end of the episode, we find out that Jeff wants to take over the company by marrying Fallon now that he has her in the palm of his hand but what I’m still confused about is whether or not he really cares about her or if it’s just a means to an end. But I doubt that we’ll find out either or anytime soon unless someone else were to find out about his plan somehow.
