SPOILER ALERT!!! Extraordinary X-Men #8 Review

Extraordinary X-Men #8 Review

The new story “Apocalypse War” begins with issue eight and shows a lot of potential so far.

Colossus and his younger team of X-Men try to save six hundred mutants who are revealed to be trapped in a sphere by the Sugar Man. Colossus’ team gets sent to the future and the Extraordinary X-Men have to save them only to show that Colossus has been turned into one of Apocalypse’s new horsemen along with a Symbiote (which doesn’t appear to have a host), a new Moon Knight (doubtful that it’s Marc Spector) and Deadpool (because really why not).

I was kind of moaning with the fact that they were doing another time travel story (because we only had what five of those in the Bendis run), but I respect the fact that there’s a reason to go into the future and actually save people from being stuck in the wrong era instead of bringing people back to solve their problems. On the other hand I like the idea that Apocalypse gives up on the mutant race and sees them as inferior. I know some people might say “this ruins his character”, but it doesn’t. Apocalypse believes in the strongest should live not just one species in particular so it would make sense that his new horsemen are so diverse. I’m actually quite looking forward to see where this goes.

The art I’m not sure how to feel about. It doesn’t match the seriousness of the story that it’s trying to tell and come sometimes look a little clunky, but on the other hand it’s colorful, bright, and each character stands out with said art.

I look forward to see where this story is going.
