Fantasy Baseball Mailbag: Trade Edition
In today’s Fantasy Baseball Mailbag I am dedicating it to the art of the deal: trades! We have been bombarded with questions revolving around trades and whether or not they should be accepted, rejected or countered.
I am an Aaron Judge owner in a redraft category league. I’m with you Dan, I don’t think his start is sustainable so I offered Judge for Max Scherzer and in a separate deal (I don’t think the owner with Scherzer will accept) I was offered Judge for Cody Bellinger, Wade Davis and Josh Reddick. I’m currently in 4th place (12-man league). What deal is the best? From Gregory Schifiletto
Thanks for the questions Greg. If you heard me last week on the My Fantasy Podcast, I was ripped apart by Yankees fans for saying their start isn’t real (Judge included) and don’t look now but they have lost seven in a row—to bad teams. I would look to move Judge too and the deal that was offered to you is pretty solid, especially if you can plug those guys into your starting lineup. That’s a deep group who added all up will produce more than Judge alone. Make the Bellinger, Davis, Reddick swap for Judge and don’t look back.
Give me your thoughts on trading my Jose Berrios and Jameson Taillon for Willson Contreras and Julio Teheran (14-team keep forever league)? From Luis Mena
Nope, no way. Do NOT make this deal Luis. Berrios and Taillon are ace-type pitchers who do not come along often. In a keep forever league you can strut those guys out there every year and feel comfortable. As a Teheran owner myself, he is too inconsistent to even match what either of your pitchers would produce. Stay pat and enjoy.
My Gary Sanchez for his Francisco Lindor? My backup catcher is Zunino and my current SS is Peraza and Escobar (MIN). 12 Team 5×5 Redraft Roto League. From Allie Afector
This is a tough one mainly because you are already somewhat deep as SS. I like Escobar more than Peraza and he is hitting .297 woth 7 HR and 25 RBIs for the Twins. Zunino is having his best year as a pro, but his sustainability worries me a bit. I would keep Sanchez who is heating up and continue to deploy those two SS you already have (they are putting up similar numbers to the slumping Lindor).
Need help! Trade my Kris Bryant for Chris Archer, Andrew Benintendi and Yoan Moncada. I give up Bryant but have Sano to play 3rd and I need a solid SP. From Patrick Morganti
Uhh, yes make this deal. The three guys you are getting in return are solid players, especially if we see Moncada at some point this season. Archer is ace-like with a bad game thrown in occasionally. I would be happy with that deal if I were you.
