Ariza turned a career year into a large contract with the Rockets. Sound familiar? He did the same thing back in 2009---when he posted career highs.
Ariza left Washington, a place where he matured as a player.

Trevor Ariza is back with the Houston Rockets after spending the last two seasons with the Wizards.  Ariza spent the 2009-10 season in Houston averaging a career best 14.9 points per game and 5.6 rebounds, but his overall play was below expectations.  Houston did not have the roster back then that it has now, and that should only boost Ariza’s fantasy value.  With James Harden and Dwight Howard commanding most of the attention for opposing defenses, look for Ariza to have a lot of open looks from all over the floor especially long range coming off of a career high 40% last season.  The Rockets will look to the 29 year old to fill the void of Chandler Parsons who signed with the Mavericks in the offseason.
The most intriguing aspect of Ariza’s fantasy value is due to his average draft position being around 80th overall.  In a recent mock draft, Ariza slipped to the 8th round in a 12 man league.  That means 95 players were selected before a player who fills up the stat sheet in fantasy terms.  If Ariza slips in your draft, know you are getting value in the middle rounds.
