Former Notre Dame QB Everett Golson listed 3rd on Seminoles depth chart
When it was confirmed that former Notre Dame QB Everett Golson was headed to Florida State as a transfer, it was expected he would be under center when the season begins on September 5th against Texas State. Golson will have some work to do if that is the case, currently being listed third on the depth chart behind starter Sean McGuire and 2014 four-star recruit J.J Cosentino.
With summer practice set to begin in the beginning of August, Golson has the time and ability to make the leap from three to one, as many expect. McGuire has only thrown 70 passes in his college career, but he is more comfortable with the Florida State system as well as the personnel on the team. Golson, on the other hand, has plenty of experience at the FBS level, leading the Fighting Irish to the Championship game back in 2013 against Alabama. After being suspended for a season due to academic issues, inconsistent play along with constant turnovers led to his benching and eventual transfer from the program.

Luckily for the Seminoles, they open up their season at home against two weak opponents, Texas State and USF, allowing whichever quarterback that wins the job a couple of weeks to get comfortable in the offense.
