Current San Diego Chargers running back and former UB Bull Branden Oliver returned to Buffalo this spring to finish earning his degree in sociology. In association with the NFL’s Continuing Education Program, Oliver was able to take the two classes he needed to complete his degree this past semester. When talking about what this means for himself,  “It means a lot,” Oliver said. “I’m proud that I have finished and have set a standard for my future children, nieces, nephews and others that look up to me.”

Oliver is the Bulls school record holder in career rushing yards (4,049) and single-season rushing yards (1,535) and will be battling for carries this summer in the Chargers backfield. He was able to lead San Diego in rushing as a rookie last season with 582 yards while scoring three touchdowns. Impressive numbers for the 5’8 undrafted free agent who got his start in Western New York.

No matter where Oliver’s career takes him, no one will be able to take away his degree. A great decision for any athlete because a football career, especially for a running back can only last so long.
