The Eagles established Carson Wentz as the future of their franchise at the quarterback position last season. The start of NFL free agency has seen them give him a couple of new weapons for this upcoming season.

The Eagles earlier inked former 49ers receiver, Torrey Smith to a three-year/$15 million contract. Smith has had a decent career. His numbers dropped sharply when he went to the 49ers two seasons ago.

This move to Philadelphia should help bring his numbers back up, especially having a team that can give some offense consistency.

The Eagles followed the signing of Smith, with another big move.

They signed former Bears receiver, Alshon Jeffery, to a one-year/$14 million deal.

Jeffery is one of the biggest names in free agency this year, and provides a great boost to the Eagles offense. It is also a friendly deal for the Eagles as Jeffery has missed 11 games over the last two season. Seven of those games were due to injury, and the four from last were due to a PED suspension.

The deal is also friendly for Jeffery. If he can return to his form from 2013 and 2014, he not only makes the Eagles a contender, but sets himself up for a potentially huge payday next offseason.
