Game of Thrones

HBO has released the official full length trailer for Game of Thrones Season 6. The trailer is labeled as Red Band but I did not see anything graphic that would warrant the Red Band label. The trailer picks up right where Season 5 ended with the death of Jon Snow. We see his body lying there and a voice over saying “He is gone”. The trailer clearly wants to drive home the notion that Jon Snow is DEAD, though we fans know better than that.  The trailer also shows the continued love affair of Queen Cersei and Jaime Lannister and the rivalry between the Lannisters and the Sparrows. The trailer hints at a showdown between Cersei’s mutated giant The Mountain and several of the Sparrows followers led by Lancel Lannister. I for one am very excited to see how this all plays out and The Mountain looks to be a huge chess piece for Cersei as she tries to regain control.

The trailer also focuses on Melisandre and her coming to terms with her visions as being lies. We see her speaking with Davos and a quick shot of her taking her gown off (no nudity shown). I did not see any pictures of Stannis so his death could be true, though I have heard (SPOILER WARNING) that he in fact did not die. From there the trailer takes us to some glimpses of Daenerys being escorted by the men we last saw her encountered by in Season 5. We see Ser Jorah Mormont searching the land for her only to find a piece of jewelry she has left behind.

We see a brief shot of Sansa Stark and then we hear Tyrion saying “You are in the great game now and the great game is terrifying”.  The trailer then begins to ramp up showing several actions sequences that will be played out during the course of the season. We see shots of Arya and there is brief shot of her with white eyes as it seems some form of transformation is coming over her. There is glimpse once of again with Jon Snow laying on a table and a hand closing his eyes.

As the trailer ends we get a shot of Bran Stark who is standing and turns to face the Night’s King. This scene gave me chills. How is Bran standing? Is this a vision or are they truly face to face and what does this mean?

I have been very impressed with Game of Thrones so far but I feel like this show is just getting started. We should have so many questions answered this season. Will we see Daenerys finally get the army she needs to take over Westeros.? Will Arya finally be worthy enough to being training? And what will happen between the Lannisters, Sparrows, and Dorne? This will be the defining season no doubt.

Game of Thrones Season 6 airs April 24th, 2016 on HBO.
