D.J. Stephens is no stranger to basketball fans in Memphis. In fact, most fans and local media have been rooting for Stephens to get a Grizzlies roster spot since he graduated from Memphis in 2013. The Grizzlies made that happen on Thursday by signing Stephens to a two-year deal.

Stephens was one of the most beloved Tiger players of all-time. He was not only one of the most exciting college basketball players in the country, his journey to the top had more hurdles than most. During his time at the University of Memphis, Stephens battled severe asthma, limiting the time he could actually spend on the floor.

While his numbers at the University of Memphis will not blow you away for a four-year guy, the time he did spend on the floor was like watching a special attraction. His time on the floor got the fans out of their seats. It was the most exciting ten minutes of action in the game. During his senior year, D.J. was able to play 23 minutes per game, and average over seven points and six boards.

Following D.J. on social media, and his journey through the D-League, I can tell you this guy was relentless in his pursuit of the dream.

Today, you win my friend. Congrats @DdotJAY30 !!!
