Group C Preview
Group C has some interesting storylines heading into this World Cup. Peru’s captain Guerrero has been cleared to play after previously been suspended for doping. France are coming into this World Cup looking for some revenge, as they hosted the 2016 Euros and got all the way to the final before losing to Portugal. Australia is also looking to improve from the last World Cup when they didn’t even get a point. And finally Denmark are making their first major tournament appearance since the 2012 Euros

Key matchup: Australia vs Peru
The final matchday of group C will have a lot at stake for Peru, Denmark, and Australia. I expect Denmark to have 2 points to Peru and Australia’s 1 point each. However, on that final matchday, they have to play France. So the door should be wide open for the winner of the Australia-Peru game to grab that second spot in the knockout round.
France should breeze through this group and get all nine points that is possible. But it’s the rest of the group that’s interesting. I think Denmark is better than Peru, but the news of Peru getting their captain back, that’ll raise their level of play and they’ll take the second in the group. And I don’t think Australia is good enough to advance out of the group. However, they could make things interesting for Peru and Denmark.
