Gotham made its return to television last night after a nice fall break. The next three episodes cover a story arc with the returning Cameron Monaghan as Jerome Valeska (a.k.a The Joker). With the return of Jerome many have speculated if we would see his gal pal and cohort in crime, Harley Quinn.  Well it seems that the good Doctor might be making her television debut this season. Gotham Executive Producer had this to say regarding when we will see Harley Quinn in Gotham,

“We might see [her] in Episode 22,” also saying that Harley will serve as a “launching point” for Season 4. We are still not certain as to how Harley will be portrayed but with Jerome appearing to fully embrace his ‘Joker’ side in the coming weeks, one could assume that they might form an alliance sometime in Season 4. Also Fox has not yet renewed Gotham for a 4th season so all this is still to be determined but I feel its safe to assume that Fox will order a new season before too long. Season 3 of Gotham has been terrific so far with the addition of Benedict Samuel’s Jervis Tetch (Mad Hatter), the return of Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) to the GCPD, and strong performances from Robin Lord Taylor (Penguin).  Gotham show runners are not afraid to bend the Batman mythos in order to spice the show up. Earlier this season Maggie Geha was cast to play an older Poison Ivy, replacing the much younger version played by Clare Foley. Many of the characters we see now are a direct result of Bruce Wayne becoming Batman but now it seems that the villains will be what fuels young Bruce to become the Dark Knight.

It should not surprise a lot of fans that Warner Bros. would want to continue to benefit from the current success the Harley Quinn character is having. Harley Quinn made her big screen debut in Suicide Squad played by Margot Robbie. The huge praise Margot got for her performance has led to her own spin off called ‘Gotham City Sirens‘. The Harley Quinn character was the highest selling Halloween outfit for 2016 and the character was used for cosplay for countless  men, women, and children. Harley Quinn is the brain child of Bruce Timm and Paul Dini and made her first appearance in Batman: The Animated Series and also The Batman Adventures #12.  Since then Harley has been in an off and on relationship with The Joker, a relationship many have nicknamed ‘Mad Love’. Harley also is part of the Suicide Squad and has been known to team with Poison Ivy from time to time.

What are you thoughts on the possibility of Harley Quinn joining Gotham? Would you like to explore her early years before becoming a doctor or would you like to see her already established and working the patients of Arkham Asylum? Maybe we will see her in full on Harley Quinn mode and teamed with Jerome causing all kinds of mayhem for Jim Gordon and the fine folks of Gotham City.
