Hat Trick Podcast Mailbag #2
Round 2 of the Hat Trick Podcast Mailbag! Once again, great questions everyone, so let’s see who made the cut.
What do you think of Manchester United’s first two signings?
Nadine, Portland, OR
Diogo Dalot had a great season to get noticed back in FC Porto. He can play both sides of the defense at full back. He’s 6’0 tall so having more height the position is excellent. He’s not a starter out the gate and at 18 he doesn’t need to be at his level. Mourinho hopes he’ll break into the starting lineup soon so let’s hope the potential is met and he’s Antonio Valencia’s replacement at right or the future at left back.
Fred I’m not sure will be successful. It really depends in what manner he’s played. Mourinho hasn’t really decided on a solid formation for United to use going from a 4-2-3-1, to a 3-4-3, 4-4-2, 4-3-1-2, and finally a 4-3-3. Fred is a defensive midfielder with potential to get better even in his mid-twenties. Still at 5’7 he better be N’Golo Kante level or I think it’s a waste of money. I just don’t see where he makes Manchester United better.
What do you think about FIFA 19 finally getting the rights to the UEFA Champions League content for the upcoming release?
Geoffrey, Pittsburgh, PA
I think it’s fantastic! It’s been something a lot of players like myself have been waiting for. The real experience will really make the game a top seller.
Where will Gareth Bale play next season?
Kelly, Memphis, TN
It all depends on who’s willing to spend the money on his transfer fee and wages. Gareth Bale really broke the bank during his Real Madrid run and it’ll be hard for a club to afford his wages let alone his transfer fee. Another factor to consider is with Zidane gone and that being the main reason Bale didn’t start every game, if Madrid get a coach that’s going to be able to include Bale full-time then there’s no reason Bale wouldn’t stay. The only team I see affording his value that could find a way to fit him into the squad are Manchester United, FC Barcelona, and Bayern Munich who would make the room for him without question.
Who’s your favorite club to support?
Warren, Santa Ana, CA
I have three clubs I follow, but my heart is with Manchester United. Ironically, my favorite team in MLS is New York City FC, who are funded by my team’s biggest rival in Manchester City. I also support an English Football League One club called AFC Wimbledon.
