Usually, when we see John Boyega, he’s battling aliens or saving the Galaxy. He’s come a very long way since his 2011 debut in Attack the Block. He’s got a film coming out with Emma Watson and Tom Hanks, and he’s starring in another Star Wars film this year. I’m not here to discuss those films though. I’m here to talk about the new Netflix film Imperial Dreams which stars Boyega and Keke Palmer.
The films initial release was 2014, at the Sundance Film festival. We will all get to see the film this Friday, February 3rd via Netflix. This film looks to be a very strong and story filled film. Boyega plays a character named Bambi who just got released from prison. Bambi has promised his family that he will get them out of the projects, and into a better place.
In the trailer, he states he wants to tell stories that will help save the kids. He seems to be writing down raps, as the trailer goes on. His uncle whom the film suggest that he lives with upon his release wants him to sell drugs. He refuses, and his uncle kicks him and his son out. Bambi wants to leave the drug game, but the amount he’s being asked to sell could be his key out. Will Bambi sell the drugs or is Bambi ultimately out of the game? We’ll find out this Friday. For now, check out the Imperial Dreams trailer:
