Everyone knows by now that DeMarco Murray took his talents to Philadelphia after rushing for 1,845 yards last season. This left the Cowboys with some big shoes to fill at running back which they decided not to fill in the draft. That being said, Jerry Jones signed Darren McFadden, a favorite of his from his alma mater of Arkansas. McFadden has had an injury plagued career and already has a pulled hamstring that has landed him on the PUP list in training camp.

Rumors have flown around about Ray Rice or Chris Johnson, and the Cowboys are even getting tweets from Steven Jackson about coming in to win the job. In my opinion, their guy is already on the roster and his name is Joseph Randle. Last year, Randle averaged 6.7 yards per carry on 51 carries. If he takes on the workload that Murray had last year, which was 392 carries, he could easily duplicate, if not surpass, Murray’s yard total. Sure, his average yards per carry would most likely come down a bit, but even if he didn’t reach that mark he would still be in line for a very productive season.

We already know what Dallas’ offensive line is capable of. The question mark when it comes to Randle is if he can stay out of trouble off the field. Last year he was arrested for shoplifting and the matter has since been resolved legally. The Cowboys can only hope he has learned his lesson and is focused on winning the starting job, or put their hopes in recently signed undrafted rookie Gus Johnson, Lance Dunbar and a rarely healthy McFadden. In the meantime, keep tweeting Steven Jackson, it certainly can’t hurt.
