Is Suicide Squad in Trouble? Can the DCEU Survive?
It’s less than a week away from the official release of “Suicide Squad”, and early reviews and or rumors are surfacing. Now what would a movie be without some rumors about it. The early rumors that are standing out the most is that “Suicide Squad”….sucks. Now, me personally, I take these kind of rumors with a grain of salt because for one, it could be just a lie someone is trying to tell because of whatever reason, or on the other hand, one mans trash is another mans treasure.
What I mean by that is, when it comes to movies, if we are to be honest with ourselves, there is no one right answer on if a movie is good or not. Yes a movie can be more popular than another but when it comes to if a movie is good, that’s up to each and every individual person because of how they view a certain film. I can think a movie is horrible but my friend can think its great. The cool thing about it is that we are both right. Because it’s how we interpret the movie. Now when it comes to people thinking one movie is more popular than the other, that’s a whole other argument. We all have our guilty pleasure movie or movies that the general movie going audience think is terrible.
Now back to the point of “Suicide Squad”, even though I take the rumor that it’s going to suck with a grain of salt, it has me thinking on how many times movie goers are going to give the DCEU a chance before giving up on it. As we all know whether we want to admit it or not, BvS was not the most popular movie this year and the majority of people seemed to not like it. And yes I know, the ultimate cut is better, but lets not forget that the general movie going audience has no idea that there’s an ultimate cut, all they know about is the theatrical cut. And given that the DCEU is just starting up with their universe, how many movies can they disappoint the general movie going audience with before people stop going in general?
In my opinion, I don’t think that “Suicide Squad” is going to suck or at least I really hope it doesn’t, I have been looking forward to this for at least six months and I can’t wait to see it. Let me know what you think, do you believe the rumors, can this mess up the DCEU in general, and could that have a ripple effect on to other types of comic book movies, such as the MCU?
