Strengths:

  • Elite burst
  • Fluid movement
  • Plus bend and flexibility
  • Elite spin move
  • Great pursuit speed
  • Likes to hit
  • Athleticism
  • Instinctive pass rusher

Weaknesses:

  • One-year wonder?
  • Drops head too much
  • Block shedding needs work
  • Tackling technique is lacking
  • Scouts question character
  • Hands need to be used more
  • Needs to add strength

Analysis: Jachai Polite is an intriguing prospect who has the talent to be taken early in the draft–but a combination of terrible pre-draft interviews, workouts and character concerns may have him slip down a bit. No one is denying his pass rushing ability–his burst off the snap and speed around the edge is elite and he can wreak havoc rushing the passer at the next level. However, he only has one season of solid production and needs to add more strength to his game. His hand usage is lacking, but he knows how to get to the quarterback. His spin move is a thing of beauty on tape.

Size: 6’3 258lbs

Draft Grade: 2nd round

NFL Comparison: Dee Ford (if he hits his potential)

Draft Projection: Day 2 pick
