Great find and reporting from Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston who claims the Red Sox had offered one-time top prospect Jackie Bradley Jr. to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for relief pitcher Charlie Furbush. The Mariners rejected the offer.

Hindsight is 20/20 as Bradley, who struggled in 2014, was hitting .350 in Triple-A this season and recently was called back up to the big league club. Bradley offers a decent bat, solid speed on the base-paths, and good range in the outfield.

Charlie Furbush is used as a situational-reliever for the Mariners and has only appeared in 17 games this season, pitching 10 innings. He does have an impressive 1.80 ERA and a WHIP at .800, big-time numbers but in such a small sample-size its hard to compare both players.

If I were Jack Zduriencik, the Mariners GM, I would have made that deal. Pairing Bradley with Ackley and Cruz would provide a solid outfield, no offense to Seth Smith who has performed admirably to start 2015, but he is nothing more than a stop-gap starter. At age 25, Bradley is about to enter his prime and could have provided Seattle with a young outfielder they can work with for years to come.
