Just over a year ago, the Boston Celtics acquired Jae Crowder in a trade for Rajon Rondo. Since then, the team has steadily improved with Crowder being a major reason why.  When Crowder came to Boston from Dallas, his minutes more than doubled, along with a lot of other offensive statistics, but it wasn’t just his offense that led to his popularity in Boston, it was his exceptional defense and hardworking style of play.

After the trade, Crowder became an important part of a team that made a surprising run to the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. Crowder’s style of play was on full display during that run and the team saw the value he brought, so they resigned him to a 5 year deal in the offseason. The deal is only for 7 million a year and based on the way Crowder has played, the deal is looking like a great one for the Celtics. So far in the 2015-16 season, Crowder has played very well while starting in all of the team’s 29 games. This season Crowder is averaging 13.2 PPG and 5.2 RPG, while shooting 35.8% from deep, all of which are career highs for the fifth year pro. Crowder is also averaging almost 2 steals  and 2 assists per game which are also career highs.

The Celtics are building something special and Jae Crowder is a huge reason why the team continues to impress. This season the team is right in the thick of the playoff hunt and looking poised to once again contend for a playoff spot and maybe even a deep playoff run. Crowder’s career year has played a big role in the team’s success and with him showing no signs of slowing down, skies the limit for his potential. The Celtics are winning games with great defense and with Crowder leading the way, the team will continue to get better as the season goes on.
